The Suitable time to trek the Yala Peak summit is in Spring (March-May) and Autumn (September-November).Β During this time, the trail is ideal for trekking with stable weather conditions. It offers clear mountain views with dramatic landscapes. During Spring, you can find beautiful blooming Rhododendrons and wildflowers guiding the path.Β Whereas, in Autumn, there are washed mountains and forests providing a unique crisp in the air and terrain.
Although the Yala Summit is known as a Himalayan trek peak and does not require technical climbing, there are some common difficulties you must be aware of. Here is a simple guide on difficulties you can expect during the trek.
Altitude sickness: High altitude is one of the major challenges of the Yala Peak trek, as the journey reaches an altitude of 5,500 meters. There is an increased risk of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) if exposed for a long period.Β Some of the early symptoms are nausea, difficulty breathing, headache, and fever.
Steep Climb to the Summit: The final ascent to the summit is steep, long, and icy. It can be slightly difficult for beginners. You need to have good endurance and physical fitness. Make sure you do a proper warm-up before ascending to the Peak Summit.
Langtang Valley Trek: This trek includes trekking up to Kyanjin Gompa and Tsergo Ri viewpoint. It excludes extending further to the Yala Peak trekking route. If you are looking for a Langtang trek and are not ready to summit Yala Peak, the Langtang Valley Trek is an ideal alternative for the Yala Peak trek.
Langtang Gosainunda Trek: It is an extended version of the Langtang Valley trek to the Gosainunda Lake. It takes you to the Kyanjin Gompa, the holy lake Gosainkunda, and returns to Kathmandu via Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park.
