After an early breakfast, you transfer to the domestic terminal for the flight to Pokhara. This is a 25-minute flight and one of the highlights of this short ABC Trek. If the weather is clear during this period, you get to see the entire Mount Annapurna and Manaslu range below you.
Reaching Pokhara, next you take a drive to Jhinu Dada, through the lush hills and small settlements. From Jhinu Dada, you take your initial steps on the short Annapurna Trekking Trail. It starts with a steep climb through the mix of forest paths and a stone staircase to Chhomrong.
Village Highlights: This is one of the picturesque Gurung settlements on the Annapurna Base Camp Short trail. From the village, you can see stunning views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhre.

This is another beautiful day with full day of trekking. Trekking on this day starts with a steep descent on stairs to Chhomrong Khola. Then, it climbs to Sinuwa Then the trail passes through a place named Kuldi Ghar and continues through a dense forest of bamboo and rhododendron to Bamboo village. It is a famous mid-trial of ABC.
Then again, the trail passes through alpine forest with couples of small water streams and you arrive at Dovan, a small place surrounded by jungle. It is a gorgeously situated settlement next to the Modi Khola.

The day starts with a slow climb, passing through the Himalayan Hotel and the Hinku Cave to Deurali. As you climb higher, the vegetation begins to disappear in the thin air. Walking the path blessed by the stunning views of Hiunchuli on the south and north faces of Machhapuchhre makes it amazing, as it dominates the scenery.
The higher you get, the cooler and fresher the atmosphere gets. Reaching Deurali, you reach a point of the Short Annapurna Base Camp Trek that showcases a significant change in the terrain.
Altitude Note: Deurali sits at 3,230 m. If you start experiencing any symptoms like headache, nausea, or dizziness, inform your guide. Take rest and stay hydrated.

This is the final section of reaching Annapurna Base Camp. It is the most awaited moment of the trek when you reach the Base Camp of the 10th-highest mountain in the world.
The trail from Deurali climbs slowly. It gets through a narrow valley with dramatic cliffs. In the mid path, you reach Machhapuchhre Base Camp, where you can take a brief rest and enjoy the first full view of Mount Machhapuchhre (Fishtail).
After crossing the MBC, the trail takes its final step towards the Annapurna Base Camp. On the way, you get a stunning full view of the Annapurna Sanctuary around you. Reaching the base camp, from the point you get breathtaking 360-degree mountain views, including Annapurna I.

After enjoying the scenic moment, you climb down to Bamboo following the same route, descending about 1,820m. You pass through Machhapuchhre Base Camp, Deurali, Himalayan Hotel, and Dovan, reaching Bamboo. The trails return to the lush vegetation and warmer zone.

It is the final day of trekking on the Short Annapurna Trekking trail, which starts with a descent through the beautiful forest of rhododendrons and bamboo. It passes by the settlement of Sinuwa and long stairways to Chhomrong. Continuing along the flowing river, Modi Khola, you get to Jhinu Dada.
It is a famous village of the Annapurna region for its natural hot spring. If you have time, we strongly suggest you take a calming bath at the hot spring before leaving. After that, you take a drive back to Pokhara, the lakeside city.

Your 9-Day Short Annapurna Base Camp trek comes to an end. Your guide or representative picks you up at the hotel and transfers you to Tribhuvan International Airport according to your flight schedule. (You are taken there 3 hours early to avoid any unexpected delays on the way).

This short trek to Annapurna Base Camp uses a domestic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara, saving one full travel day compared to the standard bus itinerary. And there will be private jeep transfer to the trekking starting point Jhinu from Pokhara airport and back to Pokhara after the trek. The return to Kathmandu on Day 8 is by comfortable tourist bus with scenic 6-7 hours’ drive.
Note: The domestic flight back or private transportation can be added for an additional cost. Both options are available at the time of booking.
The entire route of the short Annapurna Base Camp trail consists of the traditional, family-run mountain lodges called teahouses. The bedrooms are unheated throughout the trek. To keep the area warm, there are dining halls with metal or wooden stoves where trekkers gather and enjoy time together. Here is a breakdown of what kind of facilities you can expect on the short ABC trail:
Jhinu Dada: It is at a lower altitude, and the rooms are more comfortable than at other teahouses at higher elevations. There are modern teahouses with bathrooms attached available. Hot showers are available, much cheaper, and more reliable.
Chhomrong: It is a large permanent Gurung settlement of the Annapurna region, with large, well-established teahouses. Wi-Fi in the teahouses is reliable. However, bathrooms here are shared, it is nice and clean and inside the building.
Bamboo: The rooms are basic in this village with shared bathrooms. Hot showers with extra charges are available and are usually gas-geyser or boiled water. Charging electronic devices is free, and Wi-Fi here is less reliable.
Deurali: Rooms here are also basic with squat-style toilets. The power in this area is small local hydropower and solar-based, and charging devices are limited. Hot showers are available.
Annapurna Base Camp: Accommodation at the Annapurna base camp is at local guesthouses. The rooms are twin-based or multi-bed dormitories. The toilets are shared and cold due to the high altitude. Wi-Fi and SIM networks are unreliable, and charging electronic devices is available with extra cost.
Note: If you are planning to do the Short ABC trek, enjoy comfort, attached bathrooms, and hot showers at the lower villages like Jhinu, Chhomrong, and Sinuwa because after you pass by Bamboo and move towards Deurali and ABC, you can only find basic accommodation and showers are not recommended in high altitude located places.

The highest point you reach on this trek is Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) at 4,130m/13,545ft. You reach here on the 5th day of trekking, the same day you reach Machhapuchhre Base Camp before ABC.
To trek on the trail of Annapurna Base Camp, you need two permits, the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) and the Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) card. Both are included in this package.
